O cemitério dos portugueses

Acabei de ler o mais recente livro de Umberto Eco: "O Cemitério de Praga"...



O autor italiano leva-nos agora ao fim do Sec. XIX, época de conspirações, onde tudo começou. Ou, melhor dizendo, foi onde tudo acabou. Segundo aquilo que se percebe, estaremos agora a viver os restos de uma conspiração que brotou de várias conspirações baseadas em simples pecadilhos humanos e falsificações com objectivos tão mundanos como o de ganhar algum dinheiro para pagar uma boa refeição. Assim nasceram os "Protocolos dos Sábios de Sião" e se espalhou na sociedade a ideia da "Solução Final", aquela que Hitler iria tentar colocar em prática cerca de 50 anos depois dos actos narrados por Eco. E é depois de Hitler que nasce o Estado de Israel e é ainda assim que hoje temos novos mistérios e conspirações como o 11 de Setembro e um Estado da Palestina ainda por reconhecer. E tudo isto "graças" a um homem que Eco nos apresenta de forma magistral: Simonini.
O início da conspiração nasce com a lenda do "Judeu Errante", que foi aproveitada por Eugène Sue. Simonini leva-nos depois para o seio das tropas de Garibaldi e torna-se no autor do plano para afundar o navio "Ercole", causando a morte do romancista italiano Ippolito Nievo. Seguimos com ele para Paris, onde se cruzam nomes como Maurice Joly, Alphonse Toussenel e Jacob Brafmann. Umberto Eco, através do seu Simonini, fala-nos também da Alliance Israélite Universelle e lembra-nos os nomes de Gougenot des Mousseaux, Herrmann Goedsche e, sobretudo, Osman Bey. Finalmente, há grande destaque à fraude de Léo Taxil.
Pelo meio, retenho e partilho frases desta obra: "O melhor é não possuir qualquer segredo e fazer crer que se possui"; "Enquanto se trabalha para o patrão de hoje, é preciso preparar-se para servir o patrão de amanhã".
O cemitério dos portugueses que dá o nome a este meu texto, é uma referência ao cemitério dos judeus portugueses de Paris onde o falsificador de Umberto Eco confessa ter ido buscar a inspiração para criar a cena do cemitério de Praga que, mais tarde, daria origem aos "Protocolos dos Sábios de Sião". Muito lúdico. Muito luminoso. Muito Eco.

O debate que mudou tudo...

Este foi o debate entre o então Presidente dos EUA, Jimmy Carter, contra o então governador da Califórnia, Ronald Reagan. Foi aqui que tudo começou. Foi a partir daqui que George Bush, ex-director da CIA, chegou a vice-presidente e depois a Presidente. E seguido de um "intervalo" com Bill Clinton, tivemos W. Bush e os restantes amigos do pai. Foi aqui que muitos dizem que se começou a traçar a rota que iria levar até Camarate...

Jorg Haider - Uma investigação à distância

Acredito que a morte de Jorg Haider possa ter sido um infeliz acidente, mas gostava de ver uma peritagem decente e uma reconstituição feita de forma minimamente convincente...



Até lá, dizem-nos que o carro ia a 142 km/h num local onde a velocidade máxima recomendada era de 70 km/h: "Haider fuhr mit 142 km/h in den Tod"...



Haider conhecia bem aquela estrada e, inclusive, tivera um acidente na mesma há uns anos. Tinha o carro há apenas três meses, mas o mesmo era um modelo topo de gama, cuja velocidade máxima está programada para os 250 km/h. Contudo, nem mesmo um sistema de travões ABS impediu que fosse embater com violência em algo muito concreto. As imagens do carro acidentado mostram claramente que o espaço do condutor ficou bastante afectado...





E havia muito nevoeiro naquela noite. Isso terá sido uma das causas para o acidente...




Já o lado do pendura, conhecido como "o lado da morto", mostra bem menos estragos...





De qualquer modo, nem sequer preciso traduzir para português que "Jegliche Spekulationen über andere Ursachen für den Unfall sind damit hinfällig"...

A conspiração Haider

É mais uma para a lista. Jorg Haider morreu num acidente de viacção quando conduzia sozinho, sem guarda-costas ou qualquer outra companhia. Ia a caminho do aniversário dos 90 anos da mãe (o que é um motivo suficientemente sério para conduzir em excesso de velocidade), e há apenas uma testemunha do acidente. Uma mulher. O líder da extrema-direita austríaca morreu um mês depois do seu partido ter conquistado 12 por cento dos votos nas eleições gerais da Áustria. Numa altura em que regressava à ribalta política, portanto. Claro que é estranho, mas também pode ter sido um infeliz acidente. Enfim, vou aproveitar esta oportunidade para exercitar o meu alemão e estar atento ao que se vai dizer nos próximos dias...

Agora é que eles nos dizem...

Se esta notícia fosse dada na altura dos acontecimentos era uma "Teoria da Conspiração" e qualquer jornalista que sugerisse estes factos seria rotulado de louco. Hoje, é apenas uma evidência: "Margaret Thatcher is said to have been so concerned that Britain would lose the al-Yamamah arms deal to the French that she had MI5 bug the Saudi prince with whom she was negotiating.(...) There are extravagant stories of prostitutes, wild parties in London and gifts, which all helped to grease the wheels of this enormous arms deal".

Meanwhile, em Londres...

... prossegue o inquérito à morte da Princesa Diana. Há dias, o antigo mordomo de Diana, Paul Burrel, confessou que mentira e hoje, finalmente, chegou a vez de Mohamed Al Fayed falar:

- Yes. What you want -- the whole thing has been that Henri Paul was drunk. Fine. It is proved black and white that the blood been taken was not Henri Paul's blood. - Yes. Why did they refuse to come here...
- Just so that we are clear, Mr Al Fayed, it is your belief that Professors Lecomte and Pepin were, from the very beginning, engaged in a cover-up?
- Definitely, by the French intelligence, because the French intelligence helped the British intelligence to execute the murder, and without their help, without giving all the facilities in the tunnel, switches the camera, doing everything possible to help an MI6 officer to secure the murder.
- That is the whole of the French establishment?
- It is not the French establishment. It is the French intelligence.
- And the police?
- And the French police also.
- And the French medical services, through Lecomte and Pepin?
- The French intelligence and the British intelligence, they have their stooges, their agents, everywhere.
- And that includes Professors Lecomte and Pepin?
- Absolutely.
- I see. The last point that you particularly wanted to emphasise to the jury concerns dark forces.
- Richard Tomlinson told me, a few months after the crash, that he had seen a plot to kill Milosevic in the tunnel, just like my son and Princess Diana. I believe him and I believe the evidence that he gave to the inquest, very convincing, that MI6 assassinates people of great importance and relevance. He believes there is a file which the security service have on me which -- where is that file? He believes that there is a file on the paparazzi member in the pay of security services. This is likely to be James Andanson, who has executed the murder in his own Fiat, pushed the car, and the strobe lights have been used to blind Henri Paul.
- Can I just interrupt you there to check that I understand what you are saying? It is your belief then that James Andanson was driving the Fiat Uno at the time?
- Definitely.
- And that he was later murdered?
- Yes.
- I see.
- He has been later murdered because... for the security service, avoiding that he will again turn against them and say exactly what happened.
- I see.

- Where we were, Mr Al Fayed, the extent of this conspiracy: Prince Philip at its heart?
- That is right.
- Prince Charles, you said this morning?
- Definitely a participant because he has interests and he wants to get rid of Diana and he would like to marry Camilla.
- Anyone else in the Royal Household?
- But those are the main ones.
- We have not heard this today, but it features in a letter that you wrote in February 2006: the Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
- I do not remember. If you have a copy?
- I do not have a copy but I will read you one paragraph from it. It is a letter that you wrote to the Right Honourable Paul Murphy of the Intelligence and Security Committee. It is dated 14th February 2006. You mention that the security services were acting on the orders of the Royal Family and these are your words 'the Prime Minister and his senior henchmen', and you went on to say this: 'There is equally no doubt in my mind that such a momentous and horrific action would have been directly sanctioned by the Prime Minister.' So can we add him to the list, Mr Al Fayed?
- What are you asking me for? Can you tell me what you are asking now?
- Mr Al Fayed, the list of conspirators; those who are involved in the manner in which I have described in this murderous plot.
- Yes.
- We can add Tony Blair to that list, can we?
- You can, because I am sure he knows what they are going to do, definitely.
- And you say in that letter: 'Not only is Tony Blair involved, but also his senior henchmen.' Now, who did you mean by 'his senior henchmen'?
- Maybe his chief of staff.
- His chief of staff?
- Yes.
- And the Foreign Secretary of the day, Robin Cook, he must have been involved?
- It is a possibility. You can say that the embalming order has to come from someone very high. The Ambassador will not execute such order; only he had been instructed...
- LORD JUSTICE SCOTT BAKER: I think he was in the Far East at the time, wasn't he? I suppose he could have been contacted by telephone.
- Possible.
- MR HORWELL: Lord Fellowes, we heard this morning.
- Yes.
- He was manning a operations centre at the British Embassy and sent messages, I think you have said in the past, to GCHQ?
- Yes, but this is what I have been told. I know these things can happen because he is the Private Secretary of the Queen, right?
- Lord Fellowes we add to the list?
- Yes.
- We heard this morning that Lord Jay should be added to the list; a British Ambassador who knew in advance of the Princess's visit to Paris...
- That is right.
- ... and no doubt played his part in the events that took place. You have said in the past that Lord Jay ordered the embalming to ensure that there would be no evidence to show that Princess Diana was pregnant.
- That is right.
- So we add him to the list. MI5, MI6, CIA and the DGSE, the French intelligence services; we add them to the list?
- Right.
- Judge Stephan...
- Right.
- ... we heard this morning. The French SAMU, the ambulance service and the French doctors; they played their part in ensuring that Princess Diana would die...
- Possibility, yes.
- ... and delayed her arrival at hospital to ensure that she would die?
- Yes, but this is the logic thoughts of taking her to a far away hospital and there was a hospital 10 minutes or 15 minutes from the accident.
- LORD JUSTICE SCOTT BAKER: Have I understood you this morning to say not all of them, but that MI6 would have an agent there among them?
- Possibly ... yes, of course, of course.
- MR HORWELL: And, of course, the French scientists, Professors Lecomte and Pepin...
- Right.
- ... involved?
- Definitely. Why didn't they want to appear as witnesses?"

O que diz Leamas

O Basílio, do Mote para Motim, deixou-me o seguinte comentário no texto sobre David Shayler: "Há dois anos atrás David Shayler e a mulher (tb ex-agente) disseram que havia dedo do MI5 nos atentados de Londres, na morte da Diana e noutros assassinatos. Depois parece que ele começou a passar-se da cabeça...".
Bem, Basílio, que o MI5 colocou o dedo isso é óbvio. Mas Shayler há muito que devia saber que os agentes do serviços secretos não são monges que julgam o que está certo ou errado. John Le Carré já o explicara no "O Espião que Veio do Frio" através do personagem Alec Leamas (Richard Burton na adaptação ao cinema, em 1965): "What the hell do you think spies are? Moral philosophers measuring everything they do against the word of God or Karl Marx? They're not! They're just a bunch of seedy, squalid bastards like me: drunkards, queers, hen-pecked husbands, civil servants playing cowboys and Indians to brighten their rotten little lives. Do you think they sit like monks in a cell, balancing right against wrong?".

Bem, se calhar o que mais me custaria seria mesmo rapar as sobrancelhas...

Falei várias vezes com David Shayler. Ele estava exilado em Paris porque, em Agosto de 1997, dias antes da morte da princesa Diana, este agente do MI5 denunciou práticas menos correctas dentro dos serviços secretos britânicos.
David fora recrutado em 1992, após ter respondido a um enigmático anúncio de emprego no "The Independent" que dizia apenas "Godot não vem" - seguido de uma morada. Uma das primeiras tarefas foi pesquisar os dados pessoais dos candidatos a governantes do Reino Unido. Obviamente que Tony Blair estava incluído...
Quando, em finais de 1999, rebentou o escândalo dos arquivos Mitrokhine - onde era dito que havia uma lista com o nome de portugueses que espiaram para o KGB -, foi ele quem me garantiu que os nossos serviços secretos, se ainda não tinham os nomes dessa lista, bastava apenas pedi-los aos ingleses...



Passados dez anos, quando os serviços secretos ingleses estão cada vez mais fortes no controle aos cidadãos, Shayler, segundo as palavras da sua namorada, está diferente:"Last summer, I went away for a weekend. When I returned, David had shaved off all his hair and his eyebrows as part of his spiritual evolution. He knew that I had always loved his long, thick hair, so it felt like a personal slap in the face. He was in trouble. He was quick to anger if anyone questioned him. He became obsessive about little details, espoused wacky theories and shunned his family and old friends. His paranoia also escalated".

Branquear a morte de Diana

A propósito das recentes notícias sobre o relatório do governo britânico a respeito da morte da princesa Diana, que será divulgado amanhã, aqui fica a reacção de alguém que conhece bem o caso, uma vez que até já esteve preso por causa do que aconteceu em Paris em 1997. Trata-se de uma declaração em exclusivo e especialmente dedicada a todos os leitores do "Para Mim Tanto Faz". É uma espécie de prenda de Natal antecepida e, já agora, aproveito para desejar um Feliz Natal e um bom Ano Novo.
